I have always loved mid-century architecture. The clean lines along with interesting details draw me in. This is true of the Oakland Towers complex on South Oakland Avenue. Built in 1963, the complex offers 40 units split into two buildings separated by a central courtyard. Each building features its own lobby with access to the rear parking area.Located in the south building is Unit 203, a uniquely situated space between two stairwells. The well-designed floor plan consists of 1,147 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Off the formal entry is the spacious living room. The living room is the center of the unit with access to both the dining and kitchen areas and the central hallway. The space also includes a new sliding door to the balcony which overlooks the courtyard. The dining room is nicely sized with a chandelier and window. The kitchen features granite counters, lots of cabinets, and recessed lighting. Off the central hall are the bedrooms and bathrooms and utility closet. The front bedroom offers a closet and large window while the primary bedroom features multiple closets and its own bathroom. Although there is a community laundry area, the utility closet in the hallway could be converted into a laundry room as some other units have done.Additional features include wood flooring, new windows, central heating and air conditioning, single car parking space, community pool, and security gates.
